A Right-left scrolling blaster where you fly on a dragon and you destroy
pagans? on the floor. Collecting certain baddies increased
spells-or-energy.

Hmmm sounds a bit like Thanatos from (I think) Durrell.
This was an 8 bit game for c64 amstard and spectrum.
